for the past month or so, i've been so incredibly large with child that i haven't been able to do much of anything. my variety of activities include the following: sit or lie down. that leaves a lot of time to think. so i've been trying to think of ways to keep my 2 monkeys entertained while we watch general conference. for those of you who don't know what general conference is, let me explain. two times a year (the first weekend of april and october) the leaders of our church speak to us from SLC, UT. they include our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, and his 2 counselors as well as the 12 Apostles, and other various leaders from the quorums of the 70s and the leaders of the different auxillaries. they speak to us about various topics such as faith, scriptures, principles of the Gospel, temples, how to strengthen families, how to live better lives and most importantly...how to be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love it! If you'd like to watch it, go to www.lds.org and click on "live streams from the conference." Or you could watch it on TV if you have cable. It is held this saturday April 4 at 10am and 2pm (MST) and Sunday April 5th, at the same times. Enjoy!!
Well, the reason for this post is to share a few websites i've found that have been so helpful in gathering a little conference packet for my boys. i put a bunch of things that i printed off from the sites and threw in a few snacky-snacks, a little toy and wah-lah...we have a fun basket of things to do during 8 hours of general conference. also, the boys helped me put it all together and that made it more fun for them to anticipate when they get to do all this fun stuff on sat and sun. so, i hope this is helpful to anyone who actually looks at my blog before sat, i should've done this sooner...but oh well. have fun!

thanks annie! i am definelty looking up some activities--you are awesome! i usually just get annoyed that the kids are crazy and i can't listen. hopefully this year will be different!!
I make K a conference basket every time conference comes on. One of the things I started to do (now he's older) is to have a word on a baggie filled with treats. When he hears that word, he eats one of the treats. I've also made a game with colored ties for him to put with the person that's speaking. He also really likes the flash cards I made with the apostles and some facts on the back. One of the other things I did when he was younger and we still play is Conference Bingo. It's done with pictures, so they don't have to read to play it. It keeps me on top of it too! It really does make a huge difference when they are entertained, they actually listen! Enjoy this weekend.

There's also a great idea in the March Ensign...it talks about deciding on a specific word the kids have to listen to each session of conference and when the kids hear that word, they get to get one piece of candy from the candy bowl. We picked our words for FHE on Monday and the kids each picked a specific kind of candy they wanted. I think it will keep my kids a bit entertained to listen more so they can get the next piece of candy :)
Thanks for sharing! I hope you have that baby soon so you can be a little more comfortable (but more tired--I guess it is a trade off). Just know we love you and your kids will too for all your work you are putting into this!
